Part II: Character Information Character Name: Eurydice Amaryllis Marcella Athagos. Yeah, her parents were trying /really/ hard to make her sound special. Her friends call her Eury in order not to pull a tongue muscle. Name Meaning: Eurydice (yoo-rid-uh-see) is Greek for “wide justice”. She was also the wife of Orpheus, who lost her in Hades because he didn't follow T3h R00lz! Amaryllis is derived from the Greek word amaryssein, which means “sparkling”. Marcella is from the Roman name meaning “little hammer”, with some reference to Mars in there. And finally, Athagos is Greek for “goodness”. Yeah yeah, so her name basically comes down to “Sparkling Hammer of Justice and Goodness!!!!11 OMG!!” Is it any wonder she's such a fruitbat? XD Character Position: Isara, Senshi of Justice and Parking Tickets Age: Sixteen years old – old enough to be pursuing a career, but young enough to have NO clue. The poor girl. Birthdate and Zodiacal Sign: Born August 22 -- Leo sun, Libra Moon, Pisces ascendant. Oh god, the NICE. Leo Sun - On the surface, Eury has plenty of confidence, and charisma out the wazoo. Leo is the most vital of the signs and it gives her tremendous energy and enthusiasm for doing what is Right and Just. She has an aura of assurance that strengthens those who are timid, though it also carries a brightness that can serve to annoy those with a low tolerance. She has a great deal of pride, and though she doesn't consciously abhor asking for help, she'll always push herself to accomplish any task she's set to, even if it's entirely too much for her to handle alone. Those with justice in their hearts can't fail! Her faith and loyalty to those she loves is very strong, and once she's decided you're her friend, she'll stick with you to the ends of the earth whether you want her to or not. Courage, honesty, integrity and dependability are all Leonine aspects that Eury possesses, but with those also comes a great deal self-righteousness which, though noncombative and sugar-coated in her case, is still sickening to the cynical and world-wise (i.e. People who actually have a Clue). Libra Moon – When her energy is curbed, Eury possesses a gentleness and sweetness that comes from her rather simple nature. This sweetness masks a very masculine strength, however, and though she's very much dependent on others, she's also quite ambitious and driven to succeed no matter the cost. There's a great need for honesty and fairness and a desire to stand up for her principals, and though her Leo nature demands that she barge right in to make everything right, her Libran qualities will kick in and hold her back if her desires conflict with what she knows as the Rules. Pisces Ascendant -- Affectionate and sympathetic, Eury tries very hard to be sensitive to the needs of others but her inability to pick up on subtle nuances often makes her happily and guilelessly stick her foot directly into her mouth. Quite the romantic, she has a head full of dreams of Goodness and Right, divine justice, and happy endings where good conquers all by the simple fact that it is Good. Plastic and impressionable, she's easily lead and finds comfort in following rather than leading. Physical Details: Hair – Eury's hair was once straight and manageable, if a bit uninteresting in both style and its pale, mousy greyish-brown hue. Around the time she hit puberty, however, it suddenly decided to turn wild and unpredictable, as if to make up for the fact that Eury herself skipped the pubescent rebellion stage entirely. Too thick for her own good and seeming to have a mind of its own, her hair resisted all attempts at being bound, and so she finally settled for hacking most of it off. Parted in the center, her bangs just brush her eyebrows, becoming longer along the sides and falling an inch or so above her shoulders. The rest of her hair is cropped short along the back of her head. Facial Details – If you were to study Eury's face without expression, it would seem that there is little to mention or remember. Her round face is still softened by baby fat, and though her nose is small and puglike, it's just slightly too wide and coarse to be pert. Pale, untinted lips blend in with her slightly olive-toned skin, and though her round, pale grey eyes might be striking, her light brown lashes fail to bring them out. Like this, her face is neither handsome nor memorable. Ordinary, perhaps. Until she smiles, that is. When Eury smiles, her whole face seems to get into the action; her eyes and nose wrinkle up and it's like a light came on somewhere. It's hard to put your finger on it – she still isn't pretty, but somehow her smile makes people feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and they /want/ to think she's beautiful. Awwwwww.... Build – At 5'4, Eury comes in at just slightly under average. Though neither muscular nor pudgy, Eury is naturally stocky of body, with wide shoulders and wider hips. She really /is/ big boned, so she could probably take a bit more of a beating that some of her more delicate Astral counterparts, though she's still a sissy Atlantean at heart and has NO muscles to speak of. Overall her figure is average, with just enough padding to be considered feminine. Just....don't ask her how much she weighs, okay? *o.o* Carriage – Though hardly small and waifish, Eury still nances about like she's a prima ballerina. She does this mostly out of excess of energy (i.e. she's a spaz), but it ends up looking less like prancing and more like stomping. You would /not/ want this girl to live in a second-floor apartment above you. Overall she moves with an aura of pride and supreme self-confidence, and just a touch of silliness, with her back perfectly erect, arms swinging confidently, and a noticeable bounce in her step. Dress – Though she comes from a family of considerable wealth, Eury actually dresses in clothes that are fairly simple, though still of good craftsmanship. A fitted tunic, skirt, and sash represent her typical attire, generally in bright, cheerful colors in part to make up for her own drab coloring. She prefers skirts to pants because she loves the swishing motion they make as she moves, but otherwise her outfits are ultimately made for practicality and ease of movement. Sturdy boots for walking complete the outfit. Her jewelry is limited to the occasional broach and bracelets. This picture sucks, but I like the outfit. Eury's work uniform, however, is a completely different can of worms. I won't really go into detail to describe it as there is a picture, but suffice to say that it is Cute. Really, really cute. The thing was cooked up by the Commodore, who decided that the police force needed a new look to go with their recent campaign to improve public image. Eury thinks it's a great idea in concept, but it doesn't exactly fit the proud and dignified image she'd hoped for when she joined the Force. Bloodtype: Type 0, to be universally giving. ^_^ Gemstone: Garnet, as the stone of truth and faithfulness to your principals. Likes: Good – Yay Good! This right here shows about how complex Eury is. XD Yes, she's a giant goob and she has absolute faith that Good shall triumph over all. Those who move forward with pure intentions and goodness in their hearts shall always prevail in the end! When you need help, all you have to do is explain the righteousness of your cause, and people ought to fall in line behind you! “What's in it for me?” just gains you a blank stare. Because it's the right thing to do! Fluh! Yeah, she desperately needs a visit from the clue fairy, but it's hard to puncture dreams when they're clad in solid steel armor. X3 Tha Roolz – Because without them, all Atlantis as we know it would fall into chaos and we'd be no better than the poor sots we left behind on the Earth! Eury needs no reasons to follow the rules. That's just the Way Things Are Done and it would never even occur to her to question them. If a law seems a little strange, it must be that it was thought up by People Who Know Better, and she is simply unable to grasp it with her own humble intellect. The Rules are the basis for Eury's entire existence, and to deny them would be to lose every bit of grounding in reality that she has (and admittedly, that's not a whole lot). Her Family – Not a biggie in most cases, but Eury /really/ loves her family. Her parents are wonderful, giving people and her big sister is her hero and the light of her life. While wealthy, her family isn't particularly powerful or magically adept, and though it's her sister's responsibility to carry on the line and have lots of powerful babies with her talented husband, Eury is still bound and determined to do her part to make her parents proud and do right by her family name. Praise – Eury laps it up like a puppy. Whether it's a medal of honor for exemplary service to her Kingdom, or a simple pat on the head for a job well done, nothing pleases Eury more than being assured that she is helpful and needed. If you wanted to get on her good side without too much effort, just let drop a few well-placed complements and she'll be eating out of your hand faster than you can say “sucker”. Eury worries quite a bit about what other people think of her and tries hard to impress them, but won't ever sacrifice her principals to do so. Her thought processes in such circumstances tend to border on the amusingly melodramatic, as if she were some tragic heroine and the situation were much more serious than it really is. Dislikes: Evil – Not Evil in the sense of evil people, but Evil as the very concept of the thing. As far as Eury is concerned, there is no such thing as a person of Pure Evil. Deeds can be evil, but not people – it's just a matter of explaining to someone that their actions are wrong, and hopefully they'll eventually come around. Some people require a bit more, and punishment is sometimes needed, but deep down at the core every person has a good and rational soul. There are no lost causes! All they need is a little love and understanding. Sometimes a lot of love and understanding, but still....! Oh, poor deluded little girl. ^_^ Unfairness – Everything in life must be perfectly fair, and Eury does her best to assure that it is for everyone. She's the type of person who'll spend fifteen minutes cutting a cake just to be sure that everyone got an equal piece. Some allowances can be made for generosity of course, should someone wish to allow their friend a bigger piece when she's having a bad day, but Eury falls just about that short of being a stickler. The only time she'll hold her peace in the face of a seeming unfairness is when The Law says that it's fair and just, in which case she won't be entirely happy about it, but she figures the Law knows better than she does. And, well, it's The Law, right? Failure – Either real or perceived. Eury is a hard worker and holds herself to extremely high standards, so when she fails at something where she thinks failure could have been avoided, she has a great deal of difficulty forgiving herself. The scale of the failure doesn't matter, and she has a tendency sometimes to blow insignificant things way out of proportion. Not really given to brooding, her reaction usually goes along the lines of apologizing profusely and persistently to whoever was involved until they're sick of hearing it and send her out to do something else. XD After the initial horror of failure, rather than giving in to despair Eury will simply put in double the energy and enthusiasm! Because she is a trooper! Doesn't it just make your teeth hurt? The Earthbound – Now, Eury doesn't exactly /dislike/ the Earthbound. After all, it's only fair to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and that must therefore extend to them as well. Truth be told, however, if Eury ever actually came face to face with an Earthbound, she'd be scared shitless. XD I mean, these people are without magic, schooling, civilization, /laws/. They're like animals! Who knows what they might do? In her mind, anyone without law or civilization must be totally unpredictable and without understanding of structure or morality, and she doesn't have any basis at all for dealing with that. Hobbies: Her Job – In the past year, Eury was finally accepted as a new recruit into the Royal Atlantis Public Defense and Regulation Force (RAPDARF? o_O), or just The Force for short. More or less the Atlantean Police, they patrol the towns and cities, protecting the people and maintaining order. Eury /loves/ her job and is thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful team. She has more than enough enthusiasm for the job, however her powers of reason are notably lacking and her powers aren't always entirely under control, so her Captain isn't quite sure what to do with her. As such, for the last six months Eury has been assigned to general patrol and ticket duty, since Captain Sergius figures she can't do much damage that way. Eury, of course, has no clue that she's being kept out of trouble and figures that it's all S.O.P. She's certain that if she does what's assigned to her with the enthusiasm and energy that she can muster, she'll be moving on up in no time! Practicing her Magic – Eury has a few basic magic skills, but her two primary talents lie in enchanting and animating objects. When enchanting something, she can draw the object's own potential out and transfer some of its attributes onto herself for a while. Of course, at this point that isn't very vital to her job since all she does is give out tickets, but she wants to be sure that she's really got it down pat by the time she moves on to the more important and dangerous assignments, so every day after work she makes herself a busy little bee doing her stuff. Yeah, she has no other hobbies. Her job is her life. XD Visiting – Captain Sergius always gives her abundant vacation time -- probably for the sake of having a vacation from her, as well as keeping her from exhausting herself since she /would/ work fourteen hours every day if allowed to, but she just thinks he's being sweet. ^_^ Since she can't really spend /all/ of her time practicing her magic when she's not working, Eury uses the time to go visiting – either her family, her friends, or sometimes her brother-in-law, Sarhos. She rarely gives forewarning, instead just showing up on their doorstep and telling them how glad she is to see them again. n_n Personality: As you may have gathered, Eury is really and truly Good, or at least always good-intentioned. So good and well-meaning, that it can make you want to puke. An evil thought has never purposely crossed her mind. As far as Eury is concerned, /everyone/ is basically good deep down (sometimes very deep down), so why try to fight it? Just let that light shine through! She believes this so firmly, that she'll strive to find that spark of good in even the most despicable of creatures. Rose colored glasses, anyone? Even when someone seems pretty much just evil on the surface, Eury doesn't think you should just condemn them right off. There must be other reasons for them to be doing these things – you can't really judge someone when you don't even know the reasons and motivations behind their actions. Not that Eury won't defend herself or her friends if someone attacks them, but if the other person is somehow defeated or temporarily incapacitated, she won't allow anyone to deal a final blow, even to the point of shielding their opponent herself, until she's heard his side of the story. It's only fair! And then he can just be shipped off to jail to think about all he's done, and maybe in that time he'll realize that good really is the right way to go. ^_^ She tries very hard to be a sensitive and empathic person, and she wants very much to understand what causes people to go bad – always looking for external causes, because of /course/ it can't be inborn. And she would be sensitive and empathic, except that she's horribly unperceptive and never picks up on subtleties or innuendo. She expects earth-shattering events and overly-dramatic reactions. Yeah, as you may also have gathered, Eury isn't the brightest bulb in the box. Though not exactly what you might call stupid, Eury is decidedly below average in the smarts department. Okay, well, you might call her stupid. XD She generally doesn't notice things that aren't waved in front of her face, and she couldn't take a hint if you gift wrapped it for her. To make up for this, Eury has perfected the Smiling Blank Stare, that makes it perfectly clear that she has no clue at all what's going on or what's being said. n_n? In her defense, at least she's aware of her own . . . simplicity, and would probably just agree with you if you made comment on it. XD Although Eury always strives to be good, and has very simple and honest reactions in this vein, this doesn't mean that she's entirely without hypocrisy. She can be very self righteous in an unconscious, sugarcoated way. Eury really believes that she has no vices, aside from her clumsiness and lack of brains, neither of which is /evil/, just incidental. As such, she seems to think that this makes her capable of recognizing and pointing out other people's vices. Of course, she still loves other people despite her flaws. Eury is capable of loving anyone, and will always forgive any vice or deed no matter the magnitude (at least so far). This doesn't mean she won't still slap someone in irons for breaking the law, but she'll forgive them nonetheless. XD But forgiving doesn't mean she forgets. She'll forgive you your flaws, but still expects that you should be able to fix them. Noncombative, yet persistent, she'll just occasionally remind people that these things are Bad, in case they didn't know ^_^. She thinks she forgives them completely, yet her quiet pestering shows that she really doesn't. She just doesn't realize this. Yes, she is arrogant, and she'll openly and humbly admit that she thinks she's completely without the taint of evil (I'm just doing my best ^_^). It's just that, her arrogance is presented in such a completely unselfconscious and guileless manner that most people are taken aback and aren't quite sure how to respond. It's kind of hard to get mad at her because she doesn't seem to really understand what she's saying. ^_^; Gentle hints and snide barbs alike just fly completely over her head (n_n?). Trying an open attack isn't much better either, as she can be sensitive and easily hurt it you put things in plain enough terms for her to understand. It's sort of like kicking a cute and helpless little puppy – she won't make a scene or let you see her cry, but she'll make the EYES and you'll feel wretched all the same. GUILT! And then she'll realize that it's your own misguided nature that's causing you to say such untrue things, and then she'll forgive you. ^_^ Eury is really more of a follower than a leader, which is definitely a good thing since the plans she comes up with on her own are generally along the lines of just rushing in headlong, trusting in the power of Good to be your strength. XD Recognizing her own limitations, though, Eury will generally trust in better minds than her own to come up with the plans. Having a basic soldier's mindset, she naturally follows anyone who speaks with the Voice of Authority. Lacking this, she'll look to see what the RAPDARF handbook says she should do in just such a situation, and beyond that, well, there's always the “rush in and trust in Good” option. When on duty as member of the Force, or when acting under orders as a senshi or just a member of a team, Eury tries to behave in as composed and dignified a manner as possible. Her ideal is that of a stoic and honorable solider, always right and true and never losing his composure. Well, she'd /like/ to be like that, but she just has a little too much enthusiasm and not quite enough attention span. She always loses track, and forgets that she's trying to be dignified the moment something distracts her. Not to mention she never really thinks things through, and so tends to get ahead of herself, often causing her to make mistakes or do something clumsy. When it's said that Eury places a great deal of faith in the law, it means that she follows it to the absolute letter. The concept of honoring the spirit of the law is completely alien to her, since how could there be a situation that the law doesn't account for? She'll allow no exceptions, unless the exception is given by someone in higher authority, who is speaking as the Voice of the Law. Even if you're her own poor, paraplegic grandma, she's still going to have to give you a ticket for double-parking your floating palanquin, no ifs ands or buts. You shouldn't have done it in the first place. n_n; If you were stealing bread to feed your nine starving children and pregnant wife, she'll still have to take you in (and cheerfully suggest you find a better and more legal occupation). Even more unthinkable than bending the law is the idea that the law could somehow be /wrong/. I mean, it's the LAW. To say that it's somehow unjust would be oxymoron! Even if someone is doing something that isn't exactly unlawful, but is still somehow . . . wrong, or at least not exactly good, she'll still want to get involved. She can't do anything about it officially, but she'll act really antsy and distressed whenever they do it, and pester them sweetly and timidly, but utterly determinedly, about it. She'll sometimes even butt into situations with complete strangers that have absolutely nothing to do with her and are none of her business. X3 Honest to a fault, yet noncombative, Eury doesn't exactly fall into the category of “blunt”. She's perfectly conscious of the fact that this is considered a fault, but she does it anyway because...well...lying is wrong! She tries to be as polite as she can possibly be without lying, but since politeness is more or less defined by small lies, it's pretty much a lost cause. It's just as well, since she's a terrible liar anyway. In an effort to make up for this, she'll always apologize profusely every time her honesty seems impolite, and generally just ends up embarrassing both herself and the other person. The closest she comes to being diplomatic is to try and diffuse the need to lie in the first place by suddenly changing the subject (Your dress? Erm....boy, that lampshade is awful blue, isn't it! n_n).
Pros: fair, well-intentioned, ultimately forgiving, tolerant (she thinks), follows orders, lawful, honest Cons: NO clue, NO brains, arrogant, self-righteous, hypocritical, annoying, nosy, headstrong, unbending, too honest Bottom Line: Eury is GOOD, but she isn't NICE. Nor is she very smart. X3
History: Eurydice was born the youngest of two daughters in the Athagos family, a merchant family who'd come into a substantial fortune not too long before their eldest daughter Derya was born. The two girls couldn't have been less alike: Where Eury was idealistic, hyperkinetic and sort of clingy, Derya was hardworking, independent and practical. And yet, surprisingly the two adored each other. Well, Eury adored her sister, and Derya decided that anyone who thought she was that awesome couldn't be all bad. XD Life was pretty good. They lived a nice manor house, went to a well-respected school, and had the latest in toys and fashion. Their parents were often away, but they were left in the care of their Grandpa Gerasimos who, as a former member of the Royal Guard, had a lot of interesting stories to tell and was always ready to tell them. Derya suspected he was a dotty old man and half of the stories were bunk, especially all the stuff about fighting off Earthbound barbarians with nothing but a candlestick and a levitation spell, but Eury thought he was the awesomest ever. X3 Even when she grew old enough that she didn't need watching, Eury would often spend time with her Grandpa, wracking his brains for the slightest detail of every adventure. They didn't really want for much of anything . . . anything except power that is. Though they had the money, their families had never had much inborn magical talent, and thus their social status was left somewhat lacking. Eury never really worried much about it, even when a few other kids at school scoffed at them for being nouveau rich, because well...she never really worried about much of anything. Derya, being somewhat less thick-skinned (or thick-headed), though, was a great deal more bothered by this supposed social distinction and threw herself into her studies, soon distinguishing herself in some of the less purely magical studies. Eury, however, didn't really distinguish herself in much of anything, and finally dropped out (i.e. was asked to leave) by the time she was fourteen. Once she left school, her parents realized that they'd finally have to figure out what to do with her. Derya had already managed to become a fairly successful alchemist, and had married into a well-respected magical family. Granted her husband was a no-goodnik drunkard, but no doubt she'd whip him into shape after a while, or at least produce some magical children and then need nothing more to do with him. Eury, however, was a more difficult case. She wasn't headed towards any sort of successful career, nor could she really be married off. It was Grandpa Gerasimos who finally came up with a solution: why not join the Royal Atlantis Public Defense and Regulation Force? It doesn't require brains OR talent, so it should be perfect for her. Unfortunately, Eury heard him before her parents could shush him, and was so thrilled about the prospect that she wouldn't hear of doing anything else. And so that brings her to where she is today. Eury lives with her pet gargoyle in a small apartment close to Headquarters, and lives off of her meager salary and a monthly allowance from her parents. She isn't gaining any sort of money or status for the family, but at least she's out of the way and doing /something/, and her parents figure they'll have to be glad for that. NPCs: Bohmer (5) – Bohmer is a hideous gargoyle that used to stand guard over the front door of the Athagos manor. He stands about two feet tall at the shoulder – three when standing on his hind legs – and looks something like a cross between a dog and a dragon. When Eury was eleven and still experimenting with her powers of animation, she tried using a cheap single-use spell duration extender to bring the gargoyle temporarily to life and ended up somehow making the spell permanent. The primary attribute that Bohmer possesses is DUMB. Lots of dumb. He is capable of speech, though he's always stuck on high volume, and is generally limited to saying whatever he's doing (“Bohmer, clean up the room.” “I AM CLEANING THE ROOM!” “Bohmer, be quiet.” “I AM BEING QUIET!”). He can be useful to have around, and Eury keeps him as something between a pet and a household servant, partially out of affection, and partially out of the knowledge that no one else would want him. He'll follow simple orders, but you have to be careful how you phrase them, because he'll follow them completely literally. Ask him to bring in some chairs for your guests and he'll bound right out to it (“I AM GETTING SOME CHAIRS!”), but unless you tell him how many, he'll just keep bringing them in until the room is completely full and there are no more chairs left in the neighborhood. XD He isn't much use in a fight, however, as he's a giant coward and will just run and hide, whimpering until everything is over with. ^^ Bohmer is very dedicated and follows Eury everywhere she goes (which is just as well, since she's not sure she'd trust him alone in her apartment). This can be a problem in certain situations, though, so Eury often keeps him in a special enchanted Bag of Holding, which manages to shrink him down to a reasonable weight, as well as shut in most of his noise (though a muffled “I AM IN THE BAG!” is occasionally to be heard). So he's loud, dumb, energetic, and eager to please. How much more perfect could they be for each other? ^_^ Captain Sergius (29) – The officer in charge of the new recruits to the Force in the capital city. Sergius is a flustered, nervous man with brown eyes and brown hair that's starting to go bald a bit in the back. He used to like his job, but lately it just seems to be giving him trouble, what with the new Commodore and his “Public Image” campaign (Sergius has to wear the silly uniform too, though thank god it's at least a subdued green). And Eury. Eury's been on the Force for almost two years now, and she's not looking to be promoted any time soon, so she's not likely to be taken out of his hands any time soon. Of course, she loves him, but all she ever does is make him more nervous. He's already had to remove anything remotely breakable from his office, and it's gotten to the point where he cringes every time he hears her chipper little voice, ready to be of service to humanity! He tries to give her as much vacation time as he possibly can. XD |

Part III: Senshi Information Special Skills: The Little'uns – Magic 101 – Eury only stayed in Magic School until she was fourteen, as she didn't really have the brain power to continue on to higher magics, and she couldn't sit still long enough to perform complex rituals if her life depended on it. She can do all of the really basic stuff that most Atlanteans learn – light a candle, levitate a small object, or create very simple transparent illusions and tiny floating lights. Her abilities in the physical realms are rather limited, but straightforward mental magics are anathema, though she has some inborn talent in a more empathic direction. Ultimately, Eury more or less relies entirely on her inborn magical talents rather than the things she learned at school. Glamour – Eury can weave a simple glamour about herself which, though it has no obvious visual effects, can subconsciously affect how people perceive her. She mostly uses it to make herself seem more ph33rsome when she has to catch and bring in some street punks, as it wouldn't really have much effect on the pros (not that she's ever had a chance to go up against one XD). She could also use it if she were ever in trouble, by making herself scream “I'm cute and innocence and helpless! You don't want to hurt me ;.;” which would be much more insidious and easy to pull off since it actually fits the way she looks. She's not very threatening after all. XD Theoretically, Eury could also use this power to get into places she wasn't allowed or to get herself out of trouble, but that would be /wrong/! o_o She does use it sometimes to make people more likely to like her or keep them from getting too annoyed with her, though she doesn't even realize she's doing it. Balance – Not so much a spell as a magical ability that she's not even conscious of. Eury is far from graceful, and bungles things up all the time, but somehow she never falls over and always manages to land on her feet. In fact, it could be that her clumsiness is a direct result of this ability – since she's never fallen or been hurt in that manner, she never learned caution enough to try and prevent it.
The Middle'uns – Telepathy – As if. Eury's mental magic abilities are so pitiful that she couldn't even pick up an amplified thought if it was directed right at her, let alone send out one of her own. She can't even send out mental commands to her own animated creatures, and has to direct them verbally. This is also the reason her creatures are so retarded – she can't connect with them enough to give them brains. XD Mind Meld – Though she can't read minds, Eury does have an innate empathic ability for sensing untruths. In order to do this, she has to be touching the person she wants to read and open her mind to him completely. She's probably the most accurate truth-reader in her division, and can even catch on to half-truths and evasions. Her talent is probably due to her complete openness of mind and the fact that she doesn't hold back, but this also makes her extremely vulnerable should the person under interrogation attempt to strike at her. As such, Captain Sergius doesn't call her in for this very often. Psychic Impressions – If Eury touches and concentrates on an object, she can sometimes tell something about who might have used it, and how. The more the person was around the object and the more it meant to them, the stronger the impressions will be. Eury can also use this ability to tell if something is enchanted, and what sort of spell is on it or what function it serves. She's headed straight for detective detail if she ever calms down enough to be promoted. XD Use of Magical Artifacts – Likely related to her talent for reading objects, when Eury uses a magically enchanted object, she can somehow pull more power and potential out of it than most. More even, sometimes, than was originally accounted for, and she has to be careful or the stress will destroy cheaper, low quality items. Few of the farther reaching uses she could put this talent to have occurred to Eury, and right now she mostly just uses it to increase her memory circuit's storage capacity.
The Big'uns – Mental Defense – Surprisingly enough considering her complete retardness for mind magic, Eury is actually quite difficult to read. She doesn't have the knowledge to fight invasive telepathy, and she can't even conjure up the simplest mental shield, and yet none of her school lab partners could ever penetrate her skull. Her professor was able to get a bit farther, but even he had a hard time of it and couldn't get much out – comparing it to moving through molasses. His stated theory was that her own dearth of mental magic somehow created a void in which other mental spells had to struggle to survive, but he really just figured that you can't read what's not there. XD While this does help defend her against invasive telepathy, the down side is that she's left completely defenseless against offensive mental attacks whose purpose is much less refined and delicate. Awaken Object – While Eury can't enchant objects to imbue their wearers with certain attributes, she can use mundane objects to enhance her own attributes for a while. When a thing has a strong psychic impression in a certain area – say, the favorite armbands worn by an accomplished body-builder – she can use that object to imbue her own body with great physical strength for a short period of time. This works for most basic attributes, such as strength, speed, and intellect, as well as specialized skills like strategic planning or sword fighting. There are two limitations on this, though: First – she has to find an object with powerful enough psychic impressions, which are used up as part of the spell so an object can only be used once, and Second – she can't completely control whatever ability she gains from this. For instance, with great strength she could lift a large rock, but wouldn't be able to lift a quill without breaking it. With great speed she could run really fast across an open space, but she might not be able to judge her own speed and end up running smack into a wall before she can stop. If she found the sword of a master, she could use it effectively, but it would look almost like the sword and her sword arm were doing all the work themselves and just pulling the rest of her body along for the ride. ^^ The spell only lasts for around twenty or so minutes at the longest, and usually leaves her pretty worn out afterwards. Animate Object – Her favorite ability. Eury can temporarily bring an object to life and cause it to move around and do her bidding. The objects, or golems, become somewhat more flexible, though limitations on movement due to shape still apply – i.e. She could make a table walk over to her, or cause a ball to roll around, but an animated stone block isn't going to be able to do much. XD Statues or sculptures that have mouths can sometimes even talk, though they don't usually have much of anything to say. The golems will take Eury's orders without question, but the major problem that they have is that they aren't very smart. It's sort of like trying to give orders to zombies – it has to be easy, direct, and not very complicated. ^^ Left on their own, these golems only stay activated for a matter of hours or minutes, but she can turn them off at any point.
Magical Items: RAPDARF Handbook – Dude, I totally jacked the Junior Woodchuck's manual. XD Any time Eury's stuck in a situation where she doesn't know what to do and there's no one to make up her mind for her, she'll immediately turn to this book for some helpful information. It seems to have suggestions for any situation, even some really odd and unexpected ones. The book generally stays in the Bag of Holding with Bohmer, and thus has a few chewmarks in spots. Bag of Holding – A somewhat expensive item, but her family bought it for her as a special present very soon after she “acquired” Bohmer. A small coin-pouch on the outside, the inside is much larger, though still only just large enough to hold Bohmer and a few other small things Memory Circlet – A small golden band that Eury wears around her neck. It's supposed to be used to help people remember their grocery lists and complex incantations, but Eury currently uses it to keep the entirety of Atlantean Law on tap. Handcuffs – Your basic set of Atlantean handcuffs – mostly bronze with a core of iron inside. Because iron proves to be incredibly magic-resistant, the cuffs are completely magic-tamper proof. Normally that much iron would also affect magic in the general area, but the bronze coating serves to keep the effect isolated to just the handcuffs. Of course, being that Atlanteans are so incredibly magic-oriented, they never thought to invent that sophisticated a locking mechanism, so anyone with lock-picking skill could probably work their way out in no time. But most Atlanteans wouldn't think of using such unsophisticated /physical/ methods. It lacks style. Hmmph!
Henshin Item: A large, round drop of amber with her symbol trapped inside. She found it at a bazaar and thought it was cute, but hasn't had a chance to have it made into jewelry yet, so she keeps it in her pouch with Bohmer. Transformation: Isara Astral Power, Make Up! Gnaw gnaw gnaw. Oh, alright. Eury holds her henshin stone out in front of her in both hands. She briefly covers it from view, then opens her hands to show two separate stones, one in each hand. As she spreads her arms outward to each side, an updraft blows up from beneath her and she floats up into the air. As she does a little wiggle dance, sparklies flow in to cover her body, rendering her a silhouette. The sparklies relocate to cover the fuku areas of her body, then explode into ostrich feathers to reveal Isara in full uniform. Isara is then dropped from her floating position and lands balanced on a tightwire, with arms out wide to keep her balance. Finally, her hat falls down from above and lands on her head, nearly knocking her off balance, but she teeters, totters, and flails for a moment until she attains equilibrium again. Colors: Primary – White. White is associated with light, innocence and good, and is considered to be the color of perfection. It suggests seeing the world in simple terms and faith in the basic goodness of the world. Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight o/~ Secondary – Purple, warm and cool. I chose not to use black as a secondary to the white, as seeing the world in terms of the stark contrast of opposites is unfair and closed-minded - really more appropriate to Judgement than true Justice. And as far as Eury is concerned, there is no black. I considered using shades of grey, but that would have been boring. *^_^* Purple and yellow are the only two colors in the spectrum that can be either cool or warm, and since purple is a combination of red and blue – the epitome of warm and cool respectively – I decided to go with purple as a balanced blending rather using than a play in opposites. To create just the slightest contrast, I gave her two shades of purple, one moving slightly towards warm, and one towards cool, representing the objective and emotional aspects of justice. Purple also represents jurisprudence and is the color of your sash when you graduate from law school. Yay me. ^_^ Symbol: An equilateral triangle with another upside-down triangle placed on top with the tips touching, to represent balance while looking vaguely like an angular infinity sign. ^^ Fuku/Costume: If I distract you with shiny, do I still have to describe it? o_o The hat is a type of Judge's hat (note the balance of the tassles. Ahhhhhh) and the little symbol at the top is supposed to be an inscribed ostrich feather, this being the symbol of Maat, the Egyptian Goddess of Justice, who weighed men's hearts against the feather. The ostrich feather is perhaps the oldest traditional symbol of justice, long before scales came into vogue. ^_^ Powers/Attacks: “Weight of Souls!” What it Looks Like – Isara does a little spinny thing and pulls a long, white ostrich feather from henshinspace while her back is turned. After flicking it once to show off the plumage, she tilts her head down, closes her eyes, and stretches it out horizontally in front of her, grasping it gently near each end with a thumb and forefinger. The lights dim, and a large, stylized Eye of Horus appears behind her. She whispers, “Weight...” which reverberates through the silence with an echo effect that's nice and nifty without costing the special effects department much, then opens her eyes, does another spinny thing, says “of”, points the feather at her opponent, and cries out “SOULS!” What it Does to THEM – Oh the guilt. GUILT! Any and every single thing that the target of this attack might have to feel guilty about will come rushing suddenly to the forefront of his mind. It doesn't matter if the person is pure as the driven snow except for that one time they stole a cookie from the cookie jar – at that moment they'll remember the moment with perfect clarity and feel REALLY BAD about it. GUILT! The magic keeps a hold on them for about a minute or two, though a sudden pain or physical/magical attacks will shock them out of it. How they're affected after that is up to them. *^_^* What it Does to HER – After Isara uses this attack successfully on someone, she experiences a powerful psychic backlash from the target, so that as long as her opponent is magically incapacitated, so too is she. Most of what she picks up from the backlash is a muddled version of what the target himself is seeing - a cacophony of emotions with a few mental images going by almost too fast to register . What she's left with, ultimately, is a very general feeling for how much evil this person has wrought, how these deeds rate on an evil scale of one to ten, and how much remorse they do or do not feel. Who it Affects and Who is Does Not – Opposite to what one might expect when finding out that they're about to be judged by some little girl, the people who are hit hardest by this spell are actually the ones with the /most/ conviction in their actions. Every person has cracks in their conviction, no matter how well hidden and spackled they may be, and it's the people who /don't want/ to see them who are the most shaken when they're dragged up to the fore. No one has absolute faith in the correctness of their actions. Not even Eury. X3 Those who will be least affected are the people who understand, or even embrace, their guilt and the evil of their actions. People who have only minor things to feel guilty about and/or are brain addled (*coughbeletsericough*) will still be caught in the spell, but won't be hit too hard, and likely won't have any lasting effects at all once they're freed. The attack can't be dodged or blocked with physical shields, but good mental shielding can make it go pifft. “Hammer of Justice!” .....at least it isn't pacifist crush? What it Looks Like – Isara calls out the attack name, then reaches her right arm up into the air and a gigantic white hammer with golden trim appears in her hand with a brilliant flash of light and a shower of sparkles. She does a little spinny thing, takes a single-handed practice swing, then poses while holding it two-handed. What it Does – As the attack name suggests, Isara summons forth a giant war hammer, with which she must physically hit her opponent (which isn't an easy task). Once she manages to do so, the hammer explodes into a conflagration of little sparkling bits of light and vanishes. There is no time limit on how long she can keep the hammer out, but it can only be used once before going poof. The weapon is just a temporary astral projection rather than a real physical object, and while she might be able to use it to break a physical object, such as a large rock, she probably doesn't want to waste her one shot. Theoretically, it might be possible for her to break through magical shields with her one shot as well. How Much Damage it Deals – While this counts as a magical attack, it does deal physical bodily damage. Because it's hot – HOT WITH JUSTICE! More than just a bonk with a hammer, the force behind the attack is powered by her own strength of will and her assurance that she is in the right and her opponent is in the wrong. Thus, the more righteous she feels, the more damage she does. This attack is often used as a follow up to her first power. Even if she feels pity or a touch of forgiveness for her opponent and doesn't blame him entirely for his crimes, he still needs to be punished for what he's done, and this feeling strengthens her resolve. If she'd used Weight of Souls on someone like Pippin, however, she'd probably feel more confused than anything and her hammer wouldn't really do a whole lot. XD In most cases, this attack generally ranks in around average in terms of damage dealt. However, it's possible that she could somehow witness something really and truly horrendous – something that even she couldn't justify or forgive (and that would take a LOT, trust me. NO brains) – and be so filled with outrage, pain, and righteous fury that her attack could deal an astronomical amount of damage. It would be /really scary/. I wouldn't want to be there. Weapons: Nope, none. Bohmer doesn't count, cause he's a big ninny. X3 He's not even hot with justice.

Part IV: Miscellaneous Information Why you: Because...errr...ahhh....LOOK OVER THERE!! ::flails about in a distracting manner:: Miscellaneous: Eury's relationship-in-law-ship to Sarhos has been run by Rel and it != attempt for potential sexual tension, angst, woe. I don't think Eury could have angst if she tried. Well, she'd forget about it in ten minutes if she did anyway. But I do hear tell that Sarhos is likely to have an affair at some point, and throwing Eury into the works could at least create for some amusing antics. *^_^* I also tried to create her slightly as a foil to Rashnu, since Judgement and Justice can play off of each other nicely. And I swear to Goodness that it really didn't occur to me until just now that my attempt to make story connection and my attempt to make sphere connection would both center around Rel. Yes, I am that retarded. I hope she doesn't think I'm scary. XD |
