Acolyte Applications

Please complete this application to the fullest of your ability. While the questionnaire may look intimidating, the questions are designed to allow you to better explore the personality and ideals of the character you are applying for ^_^ Keep in mind the following guidelines:
  • 'Taken' and 'Filled' both mean the same thing on the cast list: closed. We do not accept applications for closed or filled characters. Ever. Make absolutely completely CERTAIN that the character you're applying for is listed as open on the cast list.
  • All Senshi are female and all Rooks (old term similar to 'knights') are male. Whether you choose to apply your soldier as male or female is completely up to you.
  • There is no minimum length requirement; however, the reviewers are far more likely to look favorably on an application with an excess of information than one w th too little. This does not mean that you will get brownie points for abusing our poor mail programs by adding hordes of formatting that doubles your app's filesize. In fact, if you do it, Cal will smite you. A lot.
  • Psst: here's a sekrit: a sense of humor will get you very far ^____^
  • Once you've completed your app, it should post it on the forum. Don't worry, only GMs can read it. This is good, because all three people will get it this way in case something gets lost somewhere. The subject line should have something to do with the position for which you are applying.

Part I: Player Information

  • Your Name: or handle, whatever; this is what will be showing up on the results page.
  • Email Address: Please make sure this is valid. Please, please please. Otherwise, how're you gonna play? o_O
  • Web Page: Show us how cool you are? *_* Optional, duh.

Part II: Character Information

  • Character Name: Your civilian name, both a given name and a family/birthplace/clan name (Clan names, such as Lothar of the Hill People, Rayek of the Sunfolk ^_- the format used before 'last names' had really been refined. Atlanteans often have normal last names, though.)
  • Name Meaning: Anachronisms are allowed, for the sake of our sanities. In other words, you may have a name from any culture you like as long as it sounds good and the meaning is relevant ^__^ I'm not so mean that I'm gonna make everyone dig up names from thousands of years B.C. (T_T;;)
  • Character Position: What senshi is this? Sailoryourname here, or Rook of Yournamehere? Wheehee.
  • Birthdate and Age / Zodiacal Sign: Easy enough. The early Mesopotamians are credited with the creation of the Zodiac, and it was once a part of the state religions. Even though this is fictional history, people will still put a lot of stock in the importance of one's sign ^_-
  • Physical Details: This should be a general description of your character; include not only hair and eye color, but also build, style, carriage, facial details, and standard mundane dress.
  • Bloodtype: Kinda like zodiacal sign! Only.. not. ^_^;
  • Gemstone: Not necessarily the birthstone, but maybe a favorite or symbolic stone.
  • Likes: What's important here is not what your character likes, but why they like it.
  • Dislikes: Ditto. See above.
  • Hobbies: These should be verbs. Nouns belong up in likes. Also include whys where applicable.
  • Personality/Alter Ego: What makes this person tick? Strengths and weaknesses and all points of interest inbetween. Make sure to at least outline this acolytes 'alter ego' - their outward appearance when they need to mingle with the populace, both personality-wise and occupation-wise. All of them hold positions in the Cult of Marduk's power structure, but please go into detail of what they do, too. If you have an ultra-long dissertation on personality but just *can't* bring yourself to edit it down, make a summary of pros and cons at the end of the section.
  • History: Same rules apply - give details about their life, the environment that produced them, and what led them to become a follower of Marduk. Do they have it out for humanity? Are they just hungry for power? Did something cause them to just become a total banzai wackmobile? Tell us!
  • NPCs: Villain NPCs are trickier, and thus this question is optional. Make sure to make some mention of why if you have no NPC characters, though.

Part III: Senshi Information

  • Special Skills: A specific set of things that this character is particularly good at, mundane or extraordinary. Acolytes may have limited powers granted by Marduk that are not necessarily their main attacks, depending on their rank or loyalty. You know, standard Sailormoon Villain fare. Such things as creating monsters/youma, teleportation, and so on.
  • Henshin Item: Acolytes don't need to henshin, so no accessories for you. ^_-
  • Transformation: No henshin for villains. You guys are powered up all the time. *__*
  • Colors: Usually one primary, one secondary. This, too, is lax, since the villains are not necessarily "uniformed" as the senshi are.
  • Symbol: All villains have the symbol of Marduk's organization, the four ovals pointed inward, as pictured on this website. It only shows when they're not disguised as normal folk. ^_^
  • Fuku/Costume: This is even more lax than the guidelines for senshi, make sure it has some kind of relevance to their element. Pictures are very helpful, though not required *hinthint*.
  • Powers/Attacks: Acolytes have at least two main attacks, aside from the usual villain fare listed in the special abilities section (updated: two is the minimum, more can be added via your good judgement). Here should be two parts here: a visual description of what happens while performing the attack and a summary of its power levels and end result. Can it be dodged? Blocked? Redirected? Hit more than one target? Can it only be performed once, or many times with impunity?
  • Weapons: All of Marduk's Acolytes have a weapon in which they are proficient, please check the cast list before you decide on one, since we'd like to keep from repetitive swords and whatnot. They may be enchanted type things, within reason of course. ^_^ Remember - relevance, relevance please!

Part IV: Miscellaneous Information

  • Why you: Sell yourself to the reviewers. Why you, why this character, why this game?
  • Miscellaneous: Anything else you'd like to share.
Part V: The Writing Sample
Hooray, everyone's favorite part. o_O We're looking for something here that will show off your command of the English language as well as your grasp of the character you've created. This should be written in third person, and give us some insight into your character. Day-in-the-life scenes work best. NOTE: If this is a second-character application, we already know how well you write. You may skip this. ^^

This application was written specifically for SM: Genesis. This means you MAY NOT USE IT in whole or in part without specific permission from and credit to the RPGs of seiryuu.org.
